The day-to-day role of a nursery assistant is a varied and dynamic one.

Here is a quick overview of what is expected of a nursery assistant.

Children arrive at nursery! As children settle, they like to see friendly & helpful, supportive adults around with a few interesting learning activities that they can choose to play with - this would be a part of your role as you start working with the children and staff. Good practice looks like getting down to the children’s level, showing an interest in their interests and offering your open and warm, supportive presence.

In most traditional nurseries the curriculum followed is the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) this provides a framework for supporting learning & development for the children during their time at the nursery. You can find out more information about the EYFS by going checking our resources page.

You will become an important part of the nursery team for the time you are there where you will be expected to help with day-to-day tasks of the room, helping to set up learning activities, tidy away & clean at the end of the day, support at mealtimes and contribute towards providing children with a happy, safe, and positive learning environment!
